In his election affidavit filed for the Varanasi constituency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared assets exceeding ₹3 crore, without ownership of land, houses, or cars. PM Modi’s total assets revealed this absence, yet showcased significant financial worth.
PM holds ₹ 9.12 lakh in National Savings Certificates and possesses four gold rings valued at ₹ 2.68 lakh. His earnings increased to ₹ 23.56 lakh in 2022-23 from ₹ 11.14 lakh in 2018-19.
PM Modi’s Total Assets and Income Surge:
In his educational background, the PM disclosed obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from Delhi University in 1978 and a Master of Arts from Gujarat University in 1983, with no pending criminal cases against him.
During his nomination filing from Varanasi, where he pursues a third MP term, the Prime Minister expressed, “I am touched and emotional. I scarcely noticed a decade’s passage under your love. ‘Today, Mother Ganga has cradled me.'”
An analysis of their election affidavits revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s annual income doubled from 2018-19 to 2022-23, whereas Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi’s income exceeds four times that of the PM.
During the nomination for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday, the affidavit revealed that Rahul Gandhi’s declared income for the financial year 2022-23 stood at Rs 1.02 crore, exceeding four times that of the prime minister, whose income for the same year was Rs 23.56 lakh.
PM Modi’s income surged from Rs 11.14 lakh in 2018-2019 to Rs 23.56 lakh in 2022-23, as per the election affidavit.
Rahul Gandhi’s income declined from Rs 1.20 crore in 2018-19 to Rs 1.02 crore in 2022-2023, according to the affidavit.
The Congress leader declared assets totaling Rs 9.24 crore from equities, mutual funds, savings account, sovereign gold bonds, etc. Additionally, he declared immovable property valued at Rs 11.15 crore, comprising commercial buildings, non-agricultural, and agricultural land.
PM Modi possesses four gold rings valued at Rs 2.67 lakhs and fixed deposit receipts totaling Rs 2.85 crore. PM Modi’s total assets amount to 3.02 crore, whereas Rahul Gandhi’s assets exceed Rs 20 crore.
While the prime minister lacks immovable assets, Rahul Gandhi possesses immovable assets valued at Rs 11.15 crore, including agricultural land in Sultanpur village, Mehrauli (jointly held with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra), and commercial apartments in Signature Towers, Gurugram.
PM Modi cited income from the Prime Minister’s Office and bank interest, while Rahul Gandhi disclosed various income sources including rent, MP salary, royalties, bank interest, bonds, dividends, and capital gains from mutual funds and shares.
