The Israel Defense Forces labeled Iran as the “primary state sponsor of terror,” asserting readiness for “all scenarios” and commitment to taking “all necessary measures.”

As tensions with Iran increase, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) cautioned that Tehran, described as a “sponsor of terrorism,” would bear responsibility for any “consequences” resulting from a potential escalation in the situation.

In a video statement on X (formerly Twitter), IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated that Iran finances, trains, and equips terrorist proxies across the Middle East and beyond. He attributed the start of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas to Iran-backed Hamas on October 7, followed by an expansion of the conflict by Iran-backed Hezbollah on October 8 last year.

The IDF spokesperson additionally charged “Iran-supported militias” in Iraq and Syria, along with “Iraq-aligned Houthis” in Yemen, with internationalizing the Gaza conflict.

Rear Admiral Hagari emphasized, “Iran, the foremost state sponsor of terrorism globally, poses a threat not only to Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria but also fuels conflicts as far as Ukraine. Iran will face consequences for any further escalation. Israel is vigilant, enhancing readiness to counter Iranian aggression and poised to retaliate.”

He noted that the IDF, in collaboration with allies, is ready for “all scenarios” and committed to taking “all necessary measures.”

Tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv escalated after an airstrike on Iran’s consulate near its embassy in Damascus on April 1, resulting in the deaths of 16 individuals, including an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander and seven IRGC officers.

Iran has squarely accused Israel for the attack and promised retaliation, heightening concerns of an imminent conflict in the Middle East.
