Ola Electric Unveils Its First E-Motorcycle Series: Roadster Pro, Roadster, and Roadster X
Ola Electric has made a significant leap in the electric two-wheeler market by launching its first-ever e-motorcycle series, the Roadster. This highly anticipated lineup includes three models: the Roadster Pro, the Roadster, and the Roadster X. These e-bikes, based on the company’s Gen 3 platform, are set to revolutionize the electric motorcycle industry with their advanced features, cutting-edge technology, and impressive performance. Alongside these new launches, Ola Electric also announced several key developments in battery production, software updates, and operations at their Gigafactory, further solidifying its position as a leader in the electric vehicle (EV) market.
Ola Electric’s Roadster Pro: Performance and Innovation
The flagship model of the series, the Roadster Pro, is designed for those who seek top-tier performance and cutting-edge technology. Ola Electric has engineered this bike to offer an exhilarating riding experience, with acceleration from 0 to 40 km/h in just 1.2 seconds. This rapid acceleration is a testament to the powerful electric motor and advanced engineering that Ola Electric has integrated into the Roadster Pro.
The design of the Roadster Pro has evolved from a concept unveiled last year into a more practical and traditional street-naked style, making it not only a high-performance vehicle but also one that is suited for everyday use. The bike is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen display, which serves as the central hub for all its advanced features, including the latest version of Ola Electric’s proprietary MoveOS software.
The Roadster Pro boasts a top speed of 194 km/h, making it one of the fastest e-motorcycles on the market. Its range is equally impressive, with the bike capable of covering 579 km on a single charge. This range is achieved thanks to Ola Electric’s state-of-the-art battery technology, which is set to be produced at their newly operational Gigafactory.
In terms of pricing, the Roadster Pro is offered at an introductory price of ₹1,99,999 for the 8 KWH variant and ₹2,49,999 for the 16 KWH variant. With such features and pricing, Ola Electric is positioning the Roadster Pro as a premium product in the electric motorcycle segment. Deliveries for this model are expected to begin by Diwali 2025, with reservations already open.
Ola Electric’s Roadster and Roadster X: Affordable Performance
While the Roadster Pro targets premium buyers, Ola Electric’s Roadster and Roadster X models cater to those seeking a balance between performance and affordability. The standard Roadster model is designed to offer robust performance at a more accessible price point. It accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in 2.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 126 km/h. The Roadster is also equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen and diamond-cut alloy wheels, adding to its appeal.
The Roadster is available in three variants, each offering different battery capacities and pricing options. The 2.5 kWh variant is priced at ₹1,04,999, the 4.5 kWh variant at ₹1,19,999, and the 6 kWh variant at ₹1,39,999. Despite being more affordable than the Roadster Pro, the standard Roadster still offers a remarkable range of 579 km on a single charge, making it a strong contender in the mid-range electric motorcycle market. Deliveries for this model are scheduled to begin in January next year, and reservations are currently open.
For budget-conscious consumers, Ola Electric has introduced the Roadster X, the most affordable model in the series. Priced from ₹74,999 for the 2.5 kWh battery pack, the Roadster X is designed to provide an entry-level option for those new to electric motorcycles. It offers a decent acceleration of 0 to 40 km/h in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 124 km/h. The bike is also equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels and a 4.3-inch touchscreen, making it a well-rounded option for budget buyers. The Roadster X offers a claimed range of 200 km on a single charge, which is suitable for daily commuting. Like the Roadster, deliveries for the Roadster X are set to begin in January next year, with reservations open now.
Ola Electric’s Commitment to Innovation and Expansion
In addition to launching its first e-motorcycle series, Ola Electric is making significant strides in its broader operations. The company announced the introduction of MoveOS 5, the latest software update for its vehicles, which includes several new features aimed at enhancing the user experience. Notably, Ola Maps will now feature group navigation, allowing riders to coordinate their journeys more effectively. The update also introduces an AI-based tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and the Krutrim AI Assistant, which will be available on Ola scooters.
These advancements reflect Ola Electric’s commitment to staying at the forefront of electric vehicle technology. The company’s Gigafactory, which plays a crucial role in battery production and vehicle assembly, is set to significantly boost Ola Electric’s manufacturing capabilities, ensuring that they can meet the growing demand for electric two-wheelers.
Ola Electric’s launch of the Roadster series marks a significant milestone in the electric motorcycle market. With a range of models catering to different segments of the market, from premium buyers to budget-conscious consumers, Ola Electric is well-positioned to dominate the e-motorcycle space. As the company continues to innovate and expand its operations, it is clear that Ola Electric is committed to leading the charge towards a more sustainable future in transportation.
