Ladla Bhai Yojana: The Maharashtra government has recently introduced a new welfare scheme for boys, inspired by the successful Ladli Behan Yojna for girls. During his visit to the Vitthal temple in Pandharpur on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, CM Shinde announced the Ladla Bhai Yojana scheme to the media. This new initiative is aimed at providing a stipend to young boys who have completed their 12th grade, emphasizing support based on their educational achievements
Ladla Bhai Yojana Scheme Benefits
Under the Ladla Bhai initiative, young individuals will receive various financial incentives based on their educational attainment. The government plans to offer Rs 6,000 per month to 12th-grade completers, Rs 8,000 per month to diploma seekers, and Rs 10,000 per month to graduates.
Participants in the Ladla Bhai program will undergo a one-year apprenticeship in a factory, gaining essential work experience aimed at enhancing their employability. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde highlighted that this initiative aims to cultivate a skilled workforce, emphasizing its unique nature as no previous government has implemented such a program.
The timing of Chief Minister Shinde’s announcement in Pandharpur today is noteworthy as the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach. The initiative is perceived as an effort to garner public support, addressing concerns raised by the opposition regarding rising youth unemployment in Maharashtra.
The decision, slated for implementation from the academic year 2024-25, includes an approved additional expenditure of Rs. 906 crore to launch the scheme, according to the resolution. Its aim is to increase the enrollment of girls in professional courses, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP). “Currently, only 36% of girls opt for professional courses such as agriculture, engineering, and pharmacy. Until now, girls from OBC and EWS categories received a 50% fee refund,” it noted.
Female students seeking admission to recognized vocational courses via the Centralized Admission Process can avail of this facility in government, aided private, semi-aided private colleges, non-aided colleges, polytechnics, autonomous government universities, and open universities.
Aim Of The Scheme
The program aims to support approximately one million young individuals, offering not just financial assistance but also integrating them into the skilled workforce. Reports indicate that the Maharashtra government plans to allocate a total of ₹10,000 crore for this initiative.
“The scheme will not only supply skilled youth to industries within the state but also nationwide. The government will provide stipends to youth during their apprenticeships to facilitate their professional development,” stated Shinde.
