On Monday, Rolls-Royce, the British aircraft engine manufacturer, forged a long-term partnership with Hyderabad-based Azad Engineering. Under this agreement, Azad Engineering will produce and supply intricate components for defence aircraft engines.
In a company statement, Alex Zino, Rolls-Royce’s Executive Vice President of Business Development and Future Programmes, and Head of Global Networks, expressed, “Collaboration has been crucial to Rolls-Royce’s success in India. We are pleased to enhance our supply chain in India with Azad Engineering as we aim to bolster the defence ecosystem.”
This collaboration will integrate Azad Engineering into the global supply chain for intricate components for Rolls-Royce’s advanced aero engines.
Azad Engineering, a significant player in aerospace, defence, energy, and oil and gas industries, manufactures complex and mission-critical components for defence and civil aircraft, spaceships, defence missiles, and nuclear power.
Rakesh Chopdar, Founder and CEO of Azad Engineering, expressed pride in the partnership, stating, “Being chosen as a strategic partner by Rolls-Royce to manufacture critical components for defence aircraft engines is an honor. Bringing these components to India not only showcases Azad Engineering’s capabilities but also marks a crucial moment for India’s aerospace and defence industry.”
Rolls-Royce asserts a strong presence in India, supported by local partnerships, joint ventures, a robust supply chain, a skilled talent pool, engineering capabilities, and digital solutions and service delivery capabilities.
Azad Engineering, active in approximately 16 countries, initiated core manufacturing in 2008. Conversely, Rolls-Royce Holdings, operating in over 150 countries, serves 400+ airlines, 160 armed forces, navies, and 5,000+ power and nuclear customers. In 2022, the British company disclosed an annual underlying revenue of £12.69 billion and an underlying operating profit of £652 million.
